Call for Papers: Academic Symposium on "Enhancing the Discourse Power of Marxist Ideology in the Digital-Intelligence Era"

To deeply study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thought on building a cyberpower [1] and his important discourses on ideological work, we must pro-actively respond to new ideological problems and challenges brought about by the profound transformations in digital-intelligent technology. Focusing on major theoretical and practical issues regarding the enhancement of the discourse power of Marxist ideology within a digital-intelligent environment, we aim to promote the construction of a Marxist ideological discourse system with strong cohesion and leadership, and to continuously enhance the discourse power of Marxist ideology in the New Era. Upon deliberation, the National Research Center for Cultural Security and Ideological Construction of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics have decided to jointly host the academic symposium "Enhancing the Discourse Power of Marxist Ideology in the Digital-Intelligent Era," scheduled to be held on May 16, 2026, in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. We are now soliciting papers from colleagues in the national academic community and welcome your participation through your submissions.

I. Forum Theme Enhancing the Discourse Power of Marxist Ideology in the Digital-Intelligent Era

II. Forum Time and Location Forum Time: May 15 to 17, 2026. Specifically: Registration on May 15 (Friday), Conference on May 16 (Saturday), and Departure on May 17 (Sunday). Forum Location: Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

  1. The new technological revolution and the development of 21st-century Marxism.
  2. The new situation facing ideological construction in the digital-intelligent era.
  3. The impact of the development of the intelligent economic form on ideology.
  4. Institutional innovation in ideological construction in the digital-intelligent era.

  6. Value orientations among new social groups and groups in new forms of employment [2].

IV. Manuscript Requirements This forum adopts the "admission via paper" method. We sincerely invite researchers, teaching staff, and graduate students from national research institutions, universities, Party schools [3], and other units to actively submit manuscripts.

Deadline: April 30, 2026.

Manuscript Requirements:

  1. Submissions must maintain a correct political stance, feature a clear theme and rigorous logic, and integrate historical facts with theoretical analysis (shilun jiehe) [4]. They should reflect academic rigor and innovation, possessing high theoretical and practical value.
  2. Papers must be original works that have not yet been published. The word count should generally be between 8,000 and 12,000 characters. Please use bottom-of-the-page footnotes, following the publication format of Marxist Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu). The main text should be preceded by an abstract (approx. 300 characters), keywords (3–5), a brief author biography, and detailed contact information.

This forum does not charge a conference fee. Transportation and accommodation expenses during the meeting shall be borne by the participants. Following selection by the expert review committee, the conference organizing group will send invitation letters to selected authors by May 5. Excellent papers will be selected and recommended for publication in Marxist Studies and World Socialism Studies.
