Call for Papers: The 7th National Forum on the Study of Foreign Marxism

In order to further advance the study of foreign Marxism and promote academic exchange and cooperation, the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) will host the "Seventh National Forum on Foreign Marxism Research." Centered on the theme of "Foreign Marxism Research under the Construction of an Independent Knowledge System," [1] this forum aims to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the Symposium on Philosophy and Social Sciences, [2] and to push the study of foreign Marxism toward greater autonomy and systematic development. The primary topics of the conference include (but are not limited to):

  1. New trends and challenges in the development of world socialism.
  2. The Chinese paradigm in the study of foreign Marxism.
  3. Theories of foreign Communist Parties and 21st-century Marxism.
  4. Frontier issues in foreign leftist trends of thought.
  5. Contemporary interpretations and reflections on Western Marxism.
  6. Critique of digital capitalism and the digital future of socialism.

The forum is hosted by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, organized by the Department of Foreign Marxism Research, and co-organized by the Xingyi Normal University for Nationalities (贵州兴义民族师范学院) in Guizhou. The conference is scheduled for late June to early July 2026 (specific dates will be announced separately), lasting one and a half days, and will be held in Xingyi City, Guizhou Province.

The requirements for submissions are as follows: Submitted papers must center on the aforementioned topics, be previously unpublished, and possess academic rigor and innovation. Papers should generally be between 8,000 and 12,000 words in length. Please refer to the formatting style of the journal World Socialism Studies (世界社会主义研究) (including title, abstract, keywords, author biography, and contact information). Please send the full text of the paper (or a long abstract) to the designated email address by May 31, 2026. The subject line should indicate: "7th Foreign Marxism Forum + Author Name + Paper Title." The Forum Organizing Committee will organize experts to review the submissions, and those who pass will receive an official invitation letter by June 10, 2026.

There is no registration fee for this forum. Participants are responsible for their own round-trip transportation and accommodation costs. Meals during the conference will be arranged by the organizers. Specific registration locations and the schedule will be provided in the invitation letter.

Experts, scholars, young faculty members, and doctoral students in the field of Marxist research, both domestic and abroad, are cordially invited to submit their work.
