Biography of Comrade Jiang Hui

Jiang Hui, male, Han ethnicity, is currently an alternate member of the 20th CPC Central Committee, a member of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department ^[1], and Press Spokesperson.

He joined the Communist Party of China in June 1994 and entered the workforce in July 1997. He holds a doctoral degree and the professional rank of Researcher. He has previously served as Deputy Director and Director of the Research Office for Contemporary Foreign Marxism and Socialism at the Institute of Marxism-Leninism (CASS), and as Assistant Director of the Policy Research Office and Deputy Director of the General Office of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). In February 2012, he was appointed Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the CASS Institute of Information Studies. In September 2018, he became Secretary of the Party Committee of the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, and in November 2018, he assumed the role of President of the Institute of Marxism Studies. In December 2018, he was appointed a member of the CASS Leading Party Members’ Group and Director of the Institute of Contemporary China (at the sub-ministerial level ^[2]). In July 2021, he was appointed Vice President of CASS, member of the CASS Leading Party Members’ Group, and Director of the Institute of Contemporary China. In April 2022, he was appointed a member of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and Head of its Propaganda Department.

He has long been engaged in research on Marxist theory, scientific socialism and the international communist movement, and contemporary world Marxism and socialism. He serves as Vice President of the Chinese Association of Scientific Socialism, Vice President of the History of the Communist Party of China Society, and Vice President of the Executive Council of the Association for the History of the People’s Republic of China. He is a doctoral supervisor at the CASS Graduate School and a Distinguished Professor at the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

He is recognized as a National Young and Middle-Aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions, a recipient of the State Council Special Government Allowance, and a member of the National Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Project ^[3]. He is further designated as a Cultural Master and "Four Batons" Talent ^[4], a leading talent in philosophy and social sciences under the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program," a member of the Consultative Committee of the Central Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project ^[5], and a member of the Disciplinary Review Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.
