Biography of Comrade Jin Huiming
Jin Huiming, male, born in December 1934, is of Han ethnicity. He is a professor, doctoral advisor, and a Member of the Academic Division of Marxist Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). He graduated from the Department of Philosophy at Renmin University of China [1] in 1960 and was assigned to work at the university’s Institute of Philosophy. In May 1964, he was transferred to the Institute for the History of Marxist Development. In July 1984, he was promoted to professor by special merit and concurrently appointed as a doctoral advisor. From 1982 to 1987, he served successively as Deputy Director and Director of the Institute for the History of Marxist Development at Renmin University. In July 1987, he was appointed Director of the Theories Bureau of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee [2]. In March 1994, he was transferred to the Institute of Marxism Studies at CASS, serving as Director of the Institute of Marxism-Leninism. He is currently a member of the Academic Committee of the Institute of Marxism Studies at CASS and Vice Director of the World Socialism Research Center. He was a member of the 9th and 10th National Committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) [3].
His concurrent positions include Convener of the Political Science Discipline Review Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, Deputy Head of the Marxism and Scientific Socialism Review Group of the National Philosophy and Social Science Planning Fund Project, and Vice President of the Chinese Association for Scientific Socialism.
His primary publications and works include: The Great Transformation in Marx’s Historical Outlook (recipient of the 1993 Red Flag [4] Magazine Outstanding Article Award); History of Marxist Philosophy (Editor-in-Chief of Volume I; recipient of the 1997 Publicity Department “Five-One Project” Award [5], the First Prize for Outstanding Achievements of the National Philosophy and Social Science Planning Fund Project, and the Wu Yuzhang Fund [6] Gold Prize); Research on the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics (Editor-in-Chief; recipient of the 1999 Publicity Department “Five-One Project” Award); and The History, Theory, and Reality of Socialism (Editor-in-Chief; recipient of the 2001 Publicity Department “Five-One Project” Award). He has authored dozens of papers such as "Marxism and Humanism" and presided over the editing of large-scale reference works including the Human Rights Research Reference Series (seven volumes). He is currently presiding over a National Social Science Fund Major Project, "Research on Several Major Issues in Marxism."
