Biography of Comrade Wang Weiguang

Wang Weiguang is a professor at the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a lifetime professor at Nankai University, and a professor at the Central Party School of the CPC [1]. He holds a PhD in Philosophy, serves as a doctoral supervisor, and is a Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) [2]. He was a delegate to the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th National Congresses of the Communist Party of China, an alternate member of the 17th Central Committee, and a member of the 18th Central Committee. He also served as a deputy to the 10th National People's Congress and a member of its Law Committee. He was a member of the Standing Committee of the 6th All-China Youth Federation. Additionally, he served as a member of the Standing Committee of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairman of its Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs. He currently serves as the Dean of the 21st Century Marxism Research Institute (jointly established by Nankai University and the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences), President of the Chinese Association of Dialectical Materialism, and a member and Chief Expert of the Consultative Committee of the Central Marxism Theoretical Research and Construction Project. He is an academic leader in the first-level disciplines [3] of Marxist Theory and Philosophy. His previous major positions include Vice President of the Central Party School of the CPC, head of the China Local Chronicles Guidance Group, President and Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chairman of the Presidium of the Academic Divisions of CASS, President of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Chairman of the Marxism Research Foundation. In 1991, he was awarded the honorary title of "Chinese Doctoral Degree Recipient with Outstanding Contributions" by the State Council.

His primary research fields focus on Marxist philosophy, Marxism and the Sinicization of Marxism, the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics, Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, major theoretical and practical issues of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the general history of Chinese thought. His published works include A General History of Socialism, New Popular Philosophy, On Social Contradictions, On Interests, Selected Works of Wang Weiguang, The Lectures of Wang Weiguang, The Latest Achievements of Contemporary Chinese Marxism, Introduction to the General History of Chinese Thought, An Outline of the History of Chinese Social Formations, and On International Financial Monopoly Capitalism. He has published over 650 papers in national-level newspapers and academic journals and has presided over numerous projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China.
