↩ [1] 有机马克思主义 (yǒujī mǎkèsī zhǔyì): A contemporary school of thought, primarily associated with process philosophy and ecological Marxism, that seeks to integrate Marxist critiques of capitalism with Whiteheadian organicism. Chinese scholars often critique it for arguably retaining "theological" or metaphysical elements that deviate from historical materialism.

The "secret societies" (民间秘密社团) mentioned refer to traditional fraternal organizations and heterodox sects (such as the Red Spears or Big Sword Society) which the CPC sought to redirect toward anti-imperialist efforts while simultaneously purging them of "feudal" superstitious beliefs.
