↩ [1] 全面建成小康社会 (quánmiàn jiànchéng xiăokāng shèhuì): "Moderately prosperous society" (xiǎokāng) is a concept originally from the Book of Rites (Lǐjì), re-appropriated by Deng Xiaoping to describe a developmental stage between "subsistence" and "modernization." The goal to "finish building" it "in all respects" by 2021 (the centenary of the CPC) was a core pillar of the first "Two Centenary Goals."

It argues against fragmenting the theory into separate "branches" (philosophy, economics, scientific socialism) or creating a dichotomy between "Early Marx" (humanism) and "Late Marx" (science).
