Our Reporter: The Global Significance of Chinese-Style Modernization—An Interview with Professor Zheng Chengjun, Vice President of Beijing International Studies University

Zheng Chengjun, male, born in 1969, is a native of Guang'an, Sichuan Province, and holds a Doctorate in Law. He serves as a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President of Beijing Second Foreign Language University, where he is a Grade-II Professor and doctoral supervisor. He has been recognized as an Outstanding Talent of the New Century [1] by the Ministry of Education and as a member of the Beijing "Four Batches" Talent Project [2]. He is an expert for the Central Marxism Theoretical Research and Construction Project [3] and serves as the Chairman of the Professional Committee on Contemporary World Culture and Civilization of the China Association of Historical Materialism. He has been a visiting scholar at Humboldt University of Berlin under the Sino-German Academic Exchange Program and a Senior Research Scholar in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University.

His research primarily focuses on scientific socialism and the international communist movement, Marxist ideology and culture, and the international communication of the Chinese path. He has presided over or participated in numerous major projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China and the Beijing Municipal Social Science Fund, as well as general projects from the Ministry of Education and the Beijing Municipality. He has published over 60 papers in journals and newspapers such as Marxist Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu), World Philosophy (Shijie Zhexue), Social Sciences Abroad (Guowai Shehui Kexue), Party Building (Dangjian), and Guangming Daily. Eight of these papers have been reprinted by the Information Center for Social Sciences of Renmin University of China [4]. He has published four academic monographs and one translation, two of which have been included in the collections of the Library of Congress and the Harvard-Yenching Library. He has received the Outstanding Achievement Award in Scientific Research in Higher Education (Humanities and Social Sciences), the Outstanding Policy Information Award from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Business Development Research Achievement Award from the Ministry of Commerce. He was also a core member of the textbook compilation team that won the Special Prize at the inaugural National Textbook Construction Awards.
