Adhering to the Party's leadership is the key to comprehensively advancing Chinese-style modernization
On July 29, 2023, the academic forum “Party Leadership and Chinese-path Modernization” and the book launch for the Series on the Historical Experience of the Party’s Centenary Struggle were held in Jinan. Yu Junxiao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Departments Directly Under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, and Vice President of the Institute of Marxism Studies; Zhao Shanhai, Second-level Inspector of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jinan Municipal Committee; and Tian Junlin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Jinan Publishing House, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Chinese-path modernization is socialist modernization led by the Communist Party of China (CPC). The leadership of the Party is directly related to the fundamental direction, future destiny, and ultimate success or failure of Chinese-path modernization. In her speech, Yu Junxiao stated that looking back at the journey of over one hundred years during which the Party led the Chinese people, the Party shouldered the heavy responsibility of exploring the path of Chinese modernization. By uniting and leading the masses in unremitting struggle, it profoundly changed the direction and process of the development of the Chinese nation after modern times [1], profoundly changed the future and destiny of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation, and profoundly changed the trends and landscape of world development. The report to the 20th CPC National Congress explicitly puts forward the essential requirements of Chinese-path modernization, the primary one being "upholding the leadership of the Communist Party of China"; it also explicitly puts forward the major principles that must be firmly grasped in Chinese-path modernization, the first of which is "upholding and strengthening the overall leadership of the Party." We must strengthen the study of the Party's centenary historical experience and draw wisdom and strength from the Party's history of over one hundred years of struggle, so as to inject powerful spiritual momentum into the comprehensive advancement of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-path modernization.

Zhao Shanhai stated in his speech that advancing Chinese-path modernization is a major strategic deployment of the 20th CPC National Congress. The report to the 20th CPC National Congress expounded that Chinese-path modernization is the modernization of a huge population, the modernization of common prosperity for all, the modernization of material and cultural-ethical advancement [2] in coordination, the modernization of harmony between humanity and nature, and the modernization of peaceful development. With the theme of "Party Leadership and Chinese-path Modernization," this forum carries out academic exchanges and conducts in-depth and systematic research and interpretation of the relationship between Party leadership and Chinese-path modernization. This is an important measure to deeply study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. It is also an academic event to enhance exchange and build consensus, which is of great theoretical and practical significance for a profound understanding of the scientific thesis that "Chinese-path modernization is socialist modernization led by the Communist Party of China." It will surely promote the continuous development and improvement of the theoretical system of Chinese-path modernization and provide strong theoretical support for the comprehensive advancement of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Books carry the Dao [3], and writing forges the soul. During the keynote report stage, experts and scholars from the CASS system, the Party School system, and various universities delivered brilliant academic reports closely centered on "Party Leadership and Chinese-path Modernization." During the academic forum stage, more than 10 young doctoral students from domestic universities conducted academic exchanges on the conference theme. At the closing ceremony, Shen Yang, Director of the Research Office for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics at the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, delivered a concluding statement.
It is reported that the Series on the Historical Experience of the Party’s Centenary Struggle consists of ten independent volumes, respectively covering: Party leadership, putting the people first, theoretical innovation, independence and self-reliance, the Chinese path, maintaining a global vision, pioneering and innovation, courage to struggle, the united front, and self-revolution. Through multiple perspectives, panoramic views, and deep levels, the series presents the journey of united struggle of the CPC in leading the masses through over a hundred years of bloody battle, self-reliance, liberating the mind [4], and maintaining self-confidence and self-improvement. It includes moving and epic stories, rich and vivid examples, persuasive and powerful ideological theories, and extremely precious historical experience.

This meeting was hosted by the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies and Jinan Publishing House, and organized by the Department of Research on the Sinicization of Marxism at the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, the School of Marxism at the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Jinan Publishing House.
