Fang Jun introduced the selection process. He stated that the Party Leadership Group of CASS attaches great importance to and is deeply concerned with the selection of the Social Sciences in China Best Articles. Under the guidance of CASS leadership, the Social Sciences in China Press has successfully held two annual selection events since 2021, and the selection process and results have elicited a broad response within the academic community. Building on previous experiences, this selection optimized and improved its methodology. Through these revisions, the scientific and rigorous nature of the selection rules has become more prominent, providing an institutional guarantee for the selection of the Best Articles in a more fair, open, and impartial manner.

Fang Jun pointed out that the emergence of academic classics in the modern sense is the result of the interaction of numerous factors. Among these, the test of authors, readers, and history is paramount; journals and editors, acting as intermediaries, are also vital. While works selected as Social Sciences in China Best Articles may not necessarily become academic classics, the selection process itself represents an effort toward the birth of such classics. Inevitably, there may be deficiencies and shortcomings in the selection work, and it is hoped that colleagues in the academic community will offer valuable opinions and suggestions to help Social Sciences in China run more effectively, contributing to the accelerated construction of a philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics, the construction of China's autonomous knowledge system [3], and the building of a modern civilization of the Chinese nation.

Wu Zhongmin, author of "On the Communist Party of China's View of Modernization," and Li Lingjing, commissioning editor of "Reform and Opening-up and the Discursive Narrative of the Reconstruction of Chinese Sociology," spoke on behalf of the winning authors and editors, respectively.

Participants in the event included some expert representatives from the Final Selection Committee for the Social Sciences in China 2022 Best Articles, heads of relevant functional departments and research units of CASS, and relevant personnel from the Social Sciences in China Press.
