Xin Xiangyang welcomed Ambassador Blanco and his delegation to the Institute, expressing a sense of "closeness" [2] (qinqie) toward his Cuban comrades. Xin Xiangyang pointed out that the socialist construction of both China and Cuba has been ongoing for a long time, each possessing its own characteristics while sharing common features. China's socialist construction, particularly since the reform and opening up and since entering the New Era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, has accumulated several important pieces of experience: namely, the consistent emphasis on upholding the Party’s total leadership; the consistent emphasis on theoretical innovation; the consistent adherence to the people-centered development philosophy; the consistent adherence to pioneering and innovation; and the consistent adherence to maintaining a global perspective [3] (xionghuai tianxia) and emphasizing the building of a community with a shared future for humanity. Xin Xiangyang emphasized that the Institute of Marxism Studies must further strengthen contacts and exchanges with Communist parties of all countries and progressive personages who adhere to Marxism, so as to jointly promote the sustained development of the socialist cause.
