Academy of Marxism Holds Plenary Meeting: Party Secretary Delivers Discipline Lecture
On the afternoon of May 30, 2024, the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) held a general assembly to promote the deep and substantive implementation of Party discipline study and education. Based on a report of the spirit of the CASS Leading Cadre Reading Class on Party Discipline Study and Education for Institute-level Directors, Party Committee Secretary Luo Wendong delivered a disciplinary Party lecture [1] to all Party members titled "Forging an Iron Army of Marxist Theory through Strict Discipline." Xin Xiangyang, Dean of the Institute, and Lin Jianhua, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee and Vice Dean, delivered speeches on the implementation of tasks related to Party discipline study and education. Vice Dean Chen Zhigang presided over the meeting.
Luo Wendong emphasized that the most important task of Party discipline study and education is to strengthen the ideological, political, and active consciousness of firmly upholding the "Two Establishments" and resolutely achieving the "Two Upholds." All Party members must elevate their political standing [2] and profoundly recognize the extreme importance of Party discipline study and education; they must persist with a "strict" keynote and earnestly grasp the implementation of this education. It is necessary to conscientiously study the Regulations of the Communist Party of China on Disciplinary Actions and conduct in-depth education on the "Six Disciplines" [3], effectively unifying thought and action with the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches and instructions regarding Party discipline study and education. Each Party branch must conscientiously implement the decisions and deployments of the CASS Party Group and, in integration with the "Three Meetings and One Lesson" [4] system, organize and launch diverse forms of Party discipline study and education activities.
Xin Xiangyang pointed out that in robustly carrying out Party discipline study and education, political discipline must be maintained without cease. Everyone should "discuss politics through scholarship" [5], guard against "low-level red" and "high-level black" [6] rhetoric, deeply study the basic principles of Marxism, and apply Marxist positions, viewpoints, and methods to resolve practical problems.
Lin Jianhua conveyed the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on the construction of ideological and political theory courses in schools. He noted that all comrades should firmly establish an awareness of being a "political organ" [7] and contribute their strength to the development of the Institute of Marxism Studies.
All cadres and staff of the Institute of Marxism Studies, along with some retired Party members, attended the meeting.
