Column Introduction Since the 18th CPC National Congress, Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization has guided the construction of a Beautiful China toward new horizons. On July 18 and July 30, the People’s Daily [1] consecutively co-hosted theoretical dissemination seminars on “Studying Volume I of the Selected Works of Xi Jinping on Ecological Civilization” with Renmin University of China and the Central Party School (National Academy of Governance). Starting today, the theoretical page of this newspaper launches the column “Expert Talks on Studying Volume I of the Selected Works of Xi Jinping on Ecological Civilization.” This column will publish a series of theoretical articles centered on Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization, deepening systematic and academic research and interpretation, and promoting the in-depth study and implementation of Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization. We welcome readers to actively share their experiences and insights.
The construction of an ecological civilization is a fundamental plan for the millennium [2] concerning the sustainable development of the Chinese nation. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has placed the construction of an ecological civilization in a prominent position within the overall work of the Party and the state. Grappling deeply with the important status and strategic significance of ecological civilization in the cause of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, the Committee has vigorously promoted innovation in theory, practice, and institutions. By continuously deepening the understanding of the laws governing the construction of an ecological civilization, the Party has creatively proposed a series of new concepts, ideas, and strategies that possess Chinese characteristics, embody the spirit of the times, and lead the progress of human civilization—thereby forming Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization. Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization is an integral component of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and represents the latest achievement in the Sinicization and modernization of Marxist thought on the relationship between humanity and nature. It comprehensively elaborates on major relationships—such as those between humanity and nature, protection and development, the environment and people’s livelihoods, and domestic and international spheres. It provides concentrated answers to major theoretical and practical questions: why we build an ecological civilization, what kind of ecological civilization we should build, and how we should build it. It provides the fundamental compliance and guide to action for China’s ecological civilization construction in the New Era.
Recently, Volume I of the Selected Works of Xi Jinping on Ecological Civilization was published and distributed. It serves as the latest authoritative textbook for the whole Party and the people of all ethnic groups throughout the country to deeply study and grasp the core tenets, spiritual essence, rich connotations, and practical requirements of Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization. Volume I includes the most important and fundamental works of General Secretary Xi Jinping on ecological civilization construction from December 2012 to April 2025. The series of original achievements and landmark concepts therein fully reflect the profound insight, keen judgment, and theoretical creativity of General Secretary Xi Jinping as a Marxist politician, thinker, and strategist. This marks a new height in our Party’s understanding of the laws governing the construction of a socialist ecological civilization.
Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization is the concentrated embodiment of the latest theoretical achievements of the Sinicization and modernization of Marxism in the field of ecological civilization.
In the article “To Achieve Sustainable Development, We Must Grasp the Construction of Ecological Civilization,” General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: “We must place the construction of ecological civilization in a prominent position and integrate it into all aspects and the whole process of economic, political, cultural, and social construction.” Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization inherits and develops the Marxist views of nature and history, enriches and deepens Marxist ecological epistemology and ecological dialectics, and serves as the concentrated embodiment of the latest theoretical results of the Sinicization and modernization of Marxism in the ecological sphere.
Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization enriches and develops Marxist philosophy. Marxist philosophy maintains that nature exists prior to humanity and human society; it is an objective reality that exists independently of human consciousness. Humans are a part of nature, the product of nature’s development at a certain stage. Marx noted that “man lives on nature.” Engels pointed out: “Let us not, however, flatter ourselves overmuch on account of our human victories over nature.” These viewpoints explain that although humanity differentiated itself from and became independent of nature through labor practice, once separated, humanity cannot survive for a moment apart from nature. Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization not only inherits the basic viewpoints of dialectical materialism but also, from the perspective of historical materialism, creatively proposes the important concept that “humanity and nature are a community of life,” achieving the enrichment and development of the Marxist view of nature. Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization transcends the cognitive limitation of viewing nature merely as an object to be transformed by practice. It expresses an ecological ontology of harmony between humanity and nature, achieving a philosophical paradigm revolution: moving from the “subject-object” dualistic opposition toward an integrated synergy of symbiotic prosperity, and from the unidirectional extraction of “instrumental rationality” toward the harmonious coexistence of “value rationality.”
Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization enriches and develops Marxist political economy. Marxist political economy maintains that the essence of the development of productive forces is the bidirectional interaction and coordinated development between humanity and nature—a process of the unified movement of the ecological economy. Marx pointed out that the “productive power of labor is determined by various circumstances, among others, by the average amount of skill of the workmen, the state of science, and the degree of its practical application, the social organisation of production, the extent and capabilities of the means of production, and by physical conditions,” providing guidance for liberating and developing social productive forces. It is evident from this that productive forces include not only social productive forces but also natural productive forces. In the article “Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains are Invaluable Assets,” General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed: “We want both lucid waters and lush mountains and also gold and silver mountains. We would rather have lucid waters and lush mountains than gold and silver mountains, and furthermore, lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.” This resolved the metaphysical dilemma that protecting the environment necessarily sacrifices development. It eloquently demonstrated that ecological environmental protection and socio-economic development are not mutually exclusive or an “either-or” choice, but are instead a dialectical unity that complements one another, effectively promoting a comprehensive green transition of socio-economic development. At the same time, General Secretary Xi Jinping creatively proposed the brand-new category of “new quality productive forces.” In the article “New Quality Productive Forces are Themselves Green Productive Forces,” he made the scientific judgment that “green development is the backdrop of high-quality development.” This contains a profound understanding of the laws governing the contradictory movement between productive forces and relations of production, enriching and developing Marxist theory of productive forces and highlighting that new quality productive forces are an advanced state of productive forces that align with the New Development Philosophy.
Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization enriches and develops the theory of scientific socialism. Scientific socialism pursues the free and comprehensive development of human beings and the overall progress of society. Marx regarded the harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature as an important characteristic of socialism and communism. In the article “Ecological Civilization Construction is an Important Characteristic of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era,” General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: “Strengthening the construction of ecological civilization is an inevitable requirement for implementing the New Development Philosophy and promoting high-quality socio-economic development; it is also the consensus and aspiration of the masses in their pursuit of a high quality of life.” Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization unequivocally positions ecological civilization construction as a fundamental plan concerning the sustainable development of the Chinese nation and deeply integrates it into the Five-Sphere Integrated Plan for the cause of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics. This profoundly demonstrates that a beautiful ecological environment and a harmonious relationship between humanity and nature are inherent meanings of the essential attributes of socialism and indispensable foundational conditions for achieving the free and comprehensive development of the individual. This clarifies, from the perspective of scientific socialism, that the superiority of socialism is reflected not only in liberating and developing productive forces and eliminating exploitation and oppression, but more importantly in its ability to systematically solve the contradictions between humanity and nature that capitalism cannot overcome. It provides a brand-new practical sample for socialist countries to achieve modernization, realizing a contemporary enrichment and sublimation of the essential connotation of socialism.
Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization provides profound insight into the laws of human historical development. Marx possessed a deep insight into the laws governing the evolution of social forms, noting: “The sudden expansion of the market... marks a new epoch in the process of social production.” Creating a new form of civilization is a creative social practice of humanity. After the Russian October Revolution, proletarian parties in various countries, guided by Marxism, began the journey of building a socialist form of civilization. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: “As we insist on and develop Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and promote the coordinated development of material, political, spiritual, social, and ecological civilizations, we have created a new path of Chinese-path modernization and created a new form of human civilization.” Ecological civilization is a vital component of this new form of human civilization. Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization provides profound insight into the historical law that “when the ecology flourishes, civilization flourishes; when the ecology declines, civilization declines [3].” It transcends the unsustainable model of traditional industrial civilization, which came at the cost of conquering nature and plundering resources. This new form of civilization is not only a distinctive marker of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics but also a profound grasp of the laws of human civilization’s development and an active leading of its direction. It has achieved a historic civilizational transformation—from passively coping with environmental crises to actively shaping a new type of civilization—contributing Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions that transcend differences in social systems for the sustainable development of humanity.
Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization prioritizes drawing ecological wisdom from fine traditional Chinese culture and possesses deep historical and cultural roots.
Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization is a major achievement of combining the basic tenets of Marxism with China’s specific realities and with fine traditional Chinese culture. It embodies the logical unity of combining Marxist principles with the practice of China’s ecological civilization construction, and contains the contemporary essence of combining Marxist thought on the relationship between humanity and nature with China’s fine traditional ecological culture.
The creative transformation and innovative development of fine traditional Chinese ecological culture. Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization uses the light of Marxist truth to pierce through the mists of history and nourishes its theoretical roots in the fertile soil of fine traditional Chinese culture. It has successfully achieved a revolutionary forging and contemporary sublimation of the holistic ecological wisdom accumulated in the Chinese nation's cosmology, ethics, and view of development over millennia. This important thought creatively transforms the holistic worldview inherent in “the unity of Heaven and humanity” [4] into the modern ecological philosophical ontology of a “community of life for humanity and nature,” which possesses rigorous scientific connotation and clear practical orientation, establishing a basic compliance for handling the relationship between man and nature. This important thought innovatively develops the simple moral sentiment of “being humane to people and loving all things” [5] into a socialist ecological civilization ethical norm and value coordinate—carried by the national action of “jointly building a Beautiful China”—constructing a new scale of ecological justice that transcends instrumental rationality. This important thought systematically tempers the dialectical governance experience of “resource extraction with restraint” [6] and “holding the mean” [7] into a systematic governance strategy for the integrated protection and restoration of mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands, and deserts, transforming the ancient wisdom of the Chinese nation into modern governance efficacy that is operational, assessable, and sustainable. This series of major transformations profoundly proves that through creative transformation and innovative development, Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization has achieved a historic leap for Chinese ecological wisdom from abstract concepts to scientific theory within the dialectical unity of “Dao” and “Qi” [8] (the Way and its physical manifestations).
A major theoretical achievement of the “Two Combinations,” especially the “Second Combination.” In the article “The New Era of Ecological Civilization Construction Has Achieved Great Achievements that Have Attracted Worldwide Attention,” General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: “Adhere to combining the basic tenets of Marxism with China's specific realities and with fine traditional Chinese culture, and vigorously promote theoretical, practical, and institutional innovation in ecological civilization.” The “Two Combinations,” especially the “Second Combination,” forge a new whole. This reflects a deep fit between the dialectical materialist view of universal connection and the law of the unity of opposites with the fine traditional Chinese cultural cosmology of “the unity of all things” and “unceasing generation and regeneration,” thoroughly breaking through the epistemological dilemma of subject-object dualism. The “Two Combinations,” especially the “Second Combination,” shape new values. They creatively fuse the fundamental Marxist position of “putting the people first” and the goal of achieving comprehensive human development with the traditional Chinese ethical spirit of “regarding people as my kin and all things as my fellows” [9] and the “nourishing power of Heaven and Earth,” achieving a high degree of unity between the interests of the people, morality, and ecology. The “Two Combinations,” especially the “Second Combination,” create new paths. They organically combine the Marxist practical viewpoint and method of contradiction analysis with the traditional Chinese governance wisdom of “grasping the two extremes and using the middle” [10] and “the Way follows nature.” This has opened a systematic path for green development that coordinates high-quality development with high-level protection, and synergistically promotes carbon reduction, pollution reduction, green expansion, and growth—demonstrating the organic unity of conformity to laws and conformity to goals. This eloquently proves that the “Two Combinations,” especially the “Second Combination,” are the inevitable path for the formation and development of Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization. In this combination, Marxism and fine traditional Chinese culture have mutually complemented each other to jointly write the magnificent epic of 21st-century socialist ecological civilization.
The historical and cultural heritage embedded in Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization is by no means a collection of abstract symbols; rather, it is deeply involved in shaping the value orientation, governance logic, and lifestyle trends of Chinese-path modernization. The cosmological view of "unity of heaven and humanity" [11] has been sublimated into the modernization value-soul of "harmonious coexistence." By fully absorbing the ancient wisdom of "assisting the transforming and nourishing powers of heaven and earth" [12] and "attaining Dao by following nature" [13], it thoroughly rejects the industrial civilization myths of "growth-supremacy" and "conquering nature," ensuring that respecting, conforming to, and protecting nature are internalized as the developmental ethics and civilizational consensus of the entire society. The ethical view of "benevolence toward the people and love for all things" [14] has been reified as the modernization governance focal point of "benefiting the people through ecology." This involves the innovative development of the profound sentiments that "the people are the foundation of the state" [15] and "the benevolent person loves others" [16] into the fundamental position that "a good ecological environment is the most universal benefit to the people's wellbeing." It takes a clear-cut stand by placing the improvement of environmental quality, the enhancement of ecological wellbeing, and the optimization of human settlements at the core of national governance, profoundly illustrating the Communist Party of China's responsibility to "plan for future generations and seek long-term development." The lifestyle view of "frugality in consumption" [17] has been internalized as the "green and low-carbon" modernization civilizational trend. Utilizing the survival wisdom of "cultivating virtue through thrift" [18] and "strengthening the foundation through economical expenditure" [19], it fosters awareness of conservation, environmental protection, and ecology throughout society, making green consumption, low-carbon travel, and waste sorting the new lifestyle trends of the New Era. This profoundly demonstrates that Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization possesses the majestic power to transform cultural confidence into developmental consciousness and to illuminate the road to national rejuvenation with historical wisdom.
Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization demonstrates immense practical power, guiding the painting of the ecological backdrop for Chinese-path modernization
Since the 18th CPC National Congress, historical, transitional, and systemic changes have occurred in China’s ecological civilization construction. The root cause lies in the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, and in the scientific guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, especially Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization. This important thought has been fully verified by practice, leading the construction of a Beautiful China toward major strides and creating ecological and green development miracles that have attracted worldwide attention.
Green development is an essential component of the New Development Philosophy. In "Leading Development with the New Development Philosophy," General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: "Green, circular, and low-carbon development is the direction of the current technological revolution and industrial transformation, and it is the most promising field of development." Looking back at the process of human modernization, some countries fell deep into the trap of "polluting first, treating later," exchanging temporary economic growth for the sacrifice of the ecological environment, ultimately paying a high price. These lessons serve as a profound warning that traditional extensive and resource-consuming development models are no longer sustainable, and the rigid constraints of resources and the environment are increasingly becoming a global challenge. Green development focuses on solving the problem of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature; it is a necessary condition for sustainable development. Since the New Era began, China's ecological civilization construction and environmental protection have achieved remarkable results. The concept of green development embodied in Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization complements and interacts with the development concepts of innovation, coordination, greenness, openness, and sharing. It not only meets the people's growing needs for a beautiful ecological environment but also promotes the realization of development that is of higher quality, more efficient, fairer, more sustainable, and more secure. The concept of green development has driven China's development toward a historical and systemic shift, achieving a transition from a passive "end-of-pipe" response to "pollution first, treatment later" to active full-chain governance characterized by "strict prevention at the source, strict management of the process, and severe punishment for consequences." This has become the ecological secret to the steady and sustained progress of the great ship of the Chinese economy, highlighting the majestic practical power of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization in leading a profound transformation of the development paradigm and opening a brand-new realm of high-quality development.
Promoting harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature is an essential requirement of Chinese-path modernization. In "Speeding Up Reform of the System for Developing an Ecological Civilization and Building a Beautiful China," General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: "The modernization we pursue is one of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature. We need to create more material and spiritual wealth to meet the people's ever-growing needs for a better life, and also provide more high-quality ecological products to meet the people's ever-growing needs for a beautiful ecological environment." This important discourse profoundly reveals how Chinese-path modernization transcends Western modernization. The "Decision" of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee proposed: "Focus on building a Beautiful China, accelerate the comprehensive green transition of economic and social development, improve the ecological environment governance system, promote ecological-priority, economical and intensive, green and low-carbon development, and facilitate harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature." This summarizes the series of new concepts, new thoughts, and new strategies of General Secretary Xi Jinping regarding the ecological shift in the path of modernization development, greatly enriching and developing the theoretical system of Chinese-path modernization. Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization rejects the old path of "polluting first, treating later," profoundly explaining that modernization construction must respect natural laws, conform to natural evolution, and protect natural values, ultimately achieving a win-win for human wellbeing and ecological health. It resolves the global dilemmas of the "growth trap" and "ecological deficit," fundamentally transforming and correcting the non-ecological and anti-ecological nature of Western modernization, and promoting a state of beautiful life characterized by harmonious coexistence between person and person, person and society, and humanity and nature.
Promote the organic unification of high-quality development and high-level protection. How to balance ecological environmental protection with economic and social development is a universal and fundamental problem faced by all countries in the process of modernization. In "Handling Several Major Relationships in Promoting the Construction of Ecological Civilization," General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: "High-quality development and high-level protection complement and reinforce each other. High-level protection is an important support for high-quality development; high-quality development characterized by ecological priority and green, low-carbon growth can only be realized through high-level protection." Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization regards the promotion of green and low-carbon economic and social development as the key link in achieving high-quality development, creatively proposing the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets." This important concept profoundly reveals the inherent unity between ecological environmental protection and economic and social development. It guides us to deeply understand that lucid waters and lush mountains are not only natural and ecological wealth but also precious assets harboring immense economic and social value. It scientifically clarifies that "protection" and "development" are not opposing choices, but a unity that can be mutually transformed and reinforced. The concept and practice of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" demonstrate the most iconic and penetrating practical power of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization. It has opened a realistic channel for the mutual transformation of "green" and "wealth," injecting continuous green momentum into Chinese-path modernization with its profound dialectics and extraordinary practical wisdom, while providing Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions of immense reference value for the world to solve the dilemmas of development and protection and to achieve sustainable development.
Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization provides new ideas and directions for global ecological governance, demonstrating an extraordinary contribution to the world
In "Working Together to Build a Global Ecological Civilization and a Clean and Beautiful World," General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: "Humanity has only one Earth. Protecting the ecological environment and promoting sustainable development is the common responsibility of all countries." With the future of humanity at heart and the wellbeing of the people in mind, Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization is a scientific answer to the "China questions," "world questions," "people's questions," and "questions of the times" regarding ecological civilization construction under historical conditions where global, national, and social circumstances have undergone complex and profound changes. It has made a monumental contribution to building a fair, rational, cooperative, and win-win global environmental governance system.
It has achieved transcendence over Western environmental theories and the concept of sustainable development. For a long time, the modern Western environmental theories dominating global discourse have mostly overemphasized human interests in the relationship between humanity and nature, believing that protecting nature merely serves human needs. They are either confined to the binary opposition of "anthropocentrism" versus "ecocentrism," trapped in the myths of instrumental rationality such as the supremacy of technology and market omnipotence, or they succumb to the plunder of ecological resources and imbalances in global governance under the dominance of the logic of capital. Western concepts of sustainable development also focus on basic issues such as poverty, hunger, and environmental sanitation, failing to reflect higher-level goals such as the pursuit of high-quality development and high-level protection. When addressing the increasingly severe global ecological crisis, they struggle to provide a truly fair, inclusive, and sustainable global solution. Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization rejects the fragmented thinking found in Western theories. On one hand, it proposes the important concept of a "community of all life on Earth," emphasizing that ecological civilization construction concerns the future of humanity and requires strengthened cooperation, thus transcending modern Western environmental theories from the dimension of global ecological civilization construction and environmental governance. On the other hand, it takes a clear-cut stand in transcending the alienation of ecological governance by the logic of capital, treating the resolution of prominent ecological and environmental issues as a priority area for the people's livelihood, and emphasizing the commitment to benefiting the people through ecology, which reflects the value position of putting the people first. This injects a powerful moral force into the construction of a more fair and rational new order for global ecological governance.
The Green Belt and Road is an important practice of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization on a global scale. In "Actively Creating a ‘Green Silk Road’," General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: "We should strive to build the Belt and Road into a road of peace, prosperity, openness, green development, innovation, and civilization." Global sustainable development often falls into structural dilemmas; the systemic ecological crisis calls for close and efficient global cooperation. However, traditional development cooperation systems have long separated development from environmental protection, forcing many developing countries to overdraw their ecological capital under growth pressure, leaving them trapped in a vicious cycle of "polluting first, treating later" or "growth without development." This has exacerbated global ecological injustice and become a huge obstacle to building a community of all life on Earth. At the opening ceremony of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, President Xi Jinping pointed out: "We should practice the new concept of green development, advocate for green, low-carbon, circular, and sustainable production and lifestyles, strengthen cooperation in ecological and environmental protection, build an ecological civilization, and jointly achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals." Green is the distinctive backdrop and inherent attribute of the Belt and Road. Jointly building a Green Belt and Road means exploring a path where "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" and where green development leads to common prosperity. General Secretary Xi Jinping personally advocated and promoted the comprehensive and deep integration of green development concepts into the Belt and Road Initiative. From top-level design to implementation, "green" has become the core factor running through the "hard connectivity" of infrastructure, the "soft connectivity" of rules and standards, and the "heart connectivity" of people-to-people ties. By transferring advanced clean energy technologies like photovoltaics and wind power to participating countries on a large scale, establishing institutionalized platforms like the Belt and Road Initiative International Green Development Coalition, and systematically sharing environmental governance experience, the Green Belt and Road provides persuasive Chinese wisdom and solutions for breaking the global development impasse and promoting common prosperity through tangible cooperation results.
Building a community of all life on Earth is a major innovation for solving global development problems. The Earth is the common and only home for humanity. In "Jointly Building a Community of All Life on Earth," General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: "We should accelerate the formation of green development patterns, promote a win-win for economic development and environmental protection, and build an Earth home where the economy and the environment advance in synergy." General Secretary Xi Jinping called on the international community to strengthen cooperation, think in one direction, and work toward a common goal to build a community of all life on Earth. building a community of all life on Earth is an original concept proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping from the height of promoting sustainable human development to solve the current dilemmas facing human development. Currently, global ecological crises such as climate change and biodiversity loss are deeply intertwined, and the problems of fragmentation and inefficiency in traditional governance systems are prominent. Human development faces unprecedented systemic risks, urgently requiring a new concept that transcends narrow national interests and possesses a holistic vision and inclusive values to lead transformation. The major concept of building a community of all life on Earth provides deep insight into the historical iron law that the rise and fall of ecology determines the survival of civilizations. It calls on the international community to transcend zero-sum games, establish a community consciousness of shared destiny and shared responsibility, and place the common wellbeing of all humanity at the core of global governance. Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization closely links China's own development with the overall development of the world, and the fate of humanity with the broad spectrum of life on Earth. It guides us to actively participate in global ecological and environmental governance, strengthen South-South cooperation, and promote sustainable human development, fully demonstrating China's historical responsibility as a participant, contributor, and leader in global ecological civilization construction.
