Tian Pengying: A Profound Understanding of General Secretary Xi Jinping's Important Expositions on Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind

The community with a shared future for humanity is a profoundly important issue of both theory and practice. It fully demonstrates the Chinese Communist Party’s global vision of "bearing the world in mind" [1] and its humanistic sentiment of seeking progress for humanity and the Great Unity [2] for the world. In 2013, during a speech at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, President Xi Jinping pointed out: "In this world, the degree to which all countries are interconnected and interdependent has deepened to an unprecedented level. Humanity lives in the same global village, in the same time and space where history and reality intersect, increasingly becoming a community with a shared future in which you are in me and I am in you." As practice has continued to deepen, the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity has gradually been enriched and transformed from theory into practical action. It has generated broad and far-reaching international influence, becoming an important hallmark of China’s leadership in the trends of the times and the progress of human civilization. Currently, the changes of the world, of the times, and of history are unfolding in unprecedented ways, and humanity faces unparalleled challenges and opportunities. Standing at the intersection of history, we must deeply understand the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity, accurately grasp its core essence, and promote the transformation of this concept into widespread practice.

The Historical Initiative in Building a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity

The concept of building a community with a shared future for humanity represents the CPC’s theoretical and practical self-awareness in facing reality and addressing the objective laws and inevitable trends of social development. It is a strategic choice made by summarizing our country’s historical experience and aiming at development goals.

The community with a shared future for humanity is a fundamental fact in the evolution of world history. Humanity has only one Earth, and all countries coexist in one world; the Earth is the common home of mankind. The changes unseen in a century are accelerating, and the world once again stands at a crossroads of history. Where will the future world go? Will it choose peace or war? Will it pursue development or recession? Will it promote openness or move toward closure? Will it strengthen cooperation or intensify confrontation? The answers to these questions concern the interests of all nations and the future destiny of humanity. Humanity is a community with a shared future. When facing common challenges, neither individuals nor nations can "remain immune by themselves" [3]; the only way out is through solidarity, cooperation, and harmonious coexistence. Countries should join hands to meet challenges, carry out global cooperation, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.

The concept of a community with a shared future for humanity emphasizes that the future and destiny of every nation and country are closely linked. We must "stay together through thick and thin and share honor and disgrace" [4], striving to build the planet we inhabit into a harmonious family and making the pursuit of a better life by all peoples a reality. Promoting the realization of this concept is not about replacing a certain system or civilization. Rather, it is about encouraging countries with different social systems, ideologies, histories, cultures, and levels of development to achieve symbiosis of interests, sharing of rights, and co-responsibility in international affairs, thereby reaching the greatest consensus on building a better world. This initiative has been written into United Nations documents many times and is being transformed from a concept into action, exerting an increasingly broad and profound international influence and becoming an important hallmark of China’s leadership in the trends of the times and the progress of civilization.

The concept of a community with a shared future for humanity represents a historical self-awareness in grasping the trends of the times. Since the dawn of the modern era, with the development of capitalism, the transformation from "national history" to "world history" has become an irresistible historical trend. Marx and Engels pointed out: "The separate individualities of different nations are being abolished more and more by the improvement of the mode of production, of intercourse, and of the division of labour between different nations naturally arising therefrom; history is becoming more and more world history." History and reality have increasingly verified the scientific nature of this prediction. Today, the process of globalization is deeper and more extensive than ever before, and the interconnection and interdependence between countries are more frequent and closer. However, the uncertainty and instability of world development have increased significantly, and deep-seated contradictions in global development are prominent. Hegemonic, domineering, and bullying acts such as "the strong bullying the weak" [5], "plunder by craft or force" [6], and zero-sum games have caused grave harm. The "peace deficit, development deficit, and governance deficit" [7] are severe challenges facing all humanity. For example, in the face of China's rapid development, Western countries observe and understand China using outdated logic; some Western scholars and politicians clamor about the "China threat theory" in an attempt to contain China's development through various means. Facing the gradual growth of the Global South, the US-led West carries out the reality of interfering in other countries' internal affairs under the banners of "democracy" and "human rights," applying double standards in international affairs and constantly dividing the Global South. These actions do not conform to the trends of the times and run counter to the desire for collective progress in human society. General Secretary Xi Jinping has profoundly pointed out that in today's world, the old path of colonialism and hegemonism is no longer feasible; only the path of peaceful development can lead to the future. Standing at the crossroads of history, "no country can respond to the various challenges facing humanity alone, nor can any country retreat into a self-enclosed island." Humanity has only one way out: "pulling together in the same boat" [8] and "harmonious coexistence" [9]. In short, "humanity is a community with a shared future that prospers or suffers together." Building a community with a shared future for humanity is where the future of all peoples lies; it is the "Righteous Path of the World" [10] for responding to common challenges and building a more prosperous and beautiful world.

Building a community with a shared future for humanity embodies the worldview, historical outlook, and values of Chinese Communists. It meets the general expectations of people worldwide, guides the direction of the development of world civilization, and is an essential requirement of Chinese-path modernization. This scientific concept and strategy point out the direction and path for humanity to achieve common development, sustainable prosperity, and long-term peace and stability. It draws a beautiful blueprint for the modern world to transcend the Cold War mentality, explore new models of dialogue and cooperation, seek a new future of peaceful development, and realize the common values of all humanity. A community with a shared future for humanity is both a profound understanding of the current reality of human society and a scientific grasp of its future destiny, indicating the direction of human development through the dialectical unity of ideal and reality, subject and object.

Advancing the building of a community with a shared future for humanity is a responsibility of the era in answering the "Questions of the World." Taking the path of peaceful development is the inevitable conclusion drawn by the Chinese people from their sufferings since the beginning of modern history. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, we have always held high the banner of peace, proposed and adhered to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, established and pursued an independent foreign policy of peace, made a solemn commitment to the world that China will never seek hegemony or expansion, and stayed firm in safeguarding world peace. Through unremitting struggle, we have forged a Chinese-path modernization that does not rely on external aggression or expansion, does not export ideology, and does not base its own development on sacrificing the interests of other countries. Instead, it integrates its own development with that of others, contributing to world development through its own growth. For example, through the Belt and Road Initiative, China has carried out extensive infrastructure cooperation with partner countries, creating many local jobs and promoting economic development and the improvement of people's livelihoods. China has historically solved the problem of absolute poverty, making a significant contribution to the global cause of poverty reduction and providing valuable experience. Meanwhile, China has deepened and expanded equal, open, and cooperative global partnerships, expanded the convergence of interests with all countries, and continued to improve a comprehensive, multi-layered, and multi-dimensional diplomatic layout, creating an extensive "circle of friends" covering the globe. In seeking peace and development alongside the "Other," China's international discourse power and influence have steadily increased. History continues to prove that peaceful development and mutually beneficial cooperation are good for China and good for the world.

In the New Era, our Party has proposed the grand mission of comprehensively advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-path modernization. To achieve this great mission, a peaceful and stable international environment is an indispensable condition. Peace is the cornerstone of development; without a peaceful international environment, both China's own development and the overall progress of the world will encounter numerous obstacles. Development is the safeguard of peace; without development, contradictions and conflicts between nations are difficult to resolve effectively, and the world will find it hard to achieve lasting peace. China unswervingly follows the path of peaceful development and actively advocates that all countries work together to choose this path.

The Ideological Foundation for Building a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity

The concept of a community with a shared future for humanity is an inheritance and development of the Marxian theory of community. It is deeply rooted in the fertile soil of Chinese culture, such as "the Great Unity under Heaven" [11] and "harmony among all nations" [12]. It is a major innovative achievement of the CPC's diplomatic and international strategic thought, possessing a solid ideological and cultural foundation and manifesting a profound sense of historical continuity.

The Marxian theory of community is an important intellectual source. In Marx’s view, "Man is no abstract being squatting outside the world. Man is the world of man—state, society"; and "Only in community [with others has each] individual the means of cultivating his gifts in all directions; only in the community, therefore, is personal freedom possible." Grasping the historical laws of social development, Marx and Engels pointed out that human society has evolved from lower to higher stages—from naturally formed communities centered on blood ties to "illusory communities" centered on interest. Facing the realization of the essence of man, they proposed building a "true community" that transcends narrow views of the nation and the state. In the community of primitive society, individual and collective interests were highly unified, but this was a commonality that ignored individuality. In the community of the capitalist state, individuality is asserted, but the individuality of some is built upon the complete lack of individuality of others. Thus, "abstract communities" or "illusory communities" have not truly realized the unity of individuality and commonality. Only in a "true community" can commonality based on respect for individuality be realized, the contradiction between the individual and the common be reconciled, and the alienation of man finally be sublated. The tortuous nature of social development shows that moving toward the highest realm of a true community does not happen overnight. In this process, one must leverage the superiorities of socialism—sharing, harmony, and inclusiveness—and take the initiative to promote the overall progress and development of human society. The concept of a community with a shared future for humanity is a contemporary, innovative interpretation of the Marxian theory of community, providing a new value compass for the transformation of the global governance system.

The rich ideological wisdom contained in fine traditional Chinese culture provides deep cultural nourishment for the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity. Chinese civilization is characterized by a prominent peaceful nature. In its more than 5,000-year history, the Chinese nation has always adhered to and inherited the core concepts of peace, amity, and harmony. "There are no genes for invading others or seeking hegemony in the blood of the Chinese nation." China not only commits itself to establishing a harmonious and orderly society at home but also actively promotes peaceful coexistence and cooperative development internationally based on the concept of "harmony among all nations." Chinese civilization is also characterized by prominent inclusiveness. Ancient China's pursuit of the original state of cosmic harmony was inherently an acknowledgment of commonality within difference. Confucianism holds that "all things are nourished together without injuring one another, and the Way is pursued without conflict" [13]; Daoism holds that "Being and Non-being produce each other; difficult and easy complete each other; long and short contrast each other; high and low distinguish each other; front and back follow each other." These ideas, based on acknowledging differences and respecting pluralism, seek a realm of harmonious coexistence—not an undifferentiated uniformity, but a unity within opposition. Traditional Chinese culture lacks a narrow view of the state, advocating that by exercising benevolence and righteousness throughout "all under heaven" [11], one can gain the respect of nations from all directions. It does not exclude the differences and specificities of various ethnic groups or regions. In its ultimate ideal sense, it pursues the realization of the "Great Unity under Heaven," where the world becomes one family, a community whose fortunes are shared. The wisdom contained in fine traditional Chinese culture—such as the unity of heaven and humanity, establishing oneself by helping others establish themselves, the unity of righteousness and benefit, being kind and good to one's neighbors, valuing sincerity and cultivating harmony, harmony among all nations, and the Great Unity—has become the philosophy of life for the Chinese nation. It is the deep cultural source for contemporary Chinese Communists' proposal of the community with a shared future for humanity.

The foreign policy and international strategic thought of the Communist Party of China (CPC) constitute the profound bedrock of the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity. Since the day of its founding, the CPC has insisted that China must demonstrate the attitude and responsibility of a responsible major power. During the period when China faced developmental dilemmas and arduous explorations, Comrade Mao Zedong elucidated the world-historical responsibility of the CPC. He pointed out: "China must not only look after itself and live its own life, but should also provide help to other countries and nations, and be of some benefit to the world. Like other countries, we should not only exist for ourselves but also make a greater contribution to the world." Since the founding of the New China, the CPC has actively promoted China's integration into the world, proposing major ideas such as the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence [14], fully demonstrating China's conscious responsibility as a responsible major power. Since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee [15], Chinese Communists, with Comrade Deng Xiaoping as their chief representative, made the scientific judgment that "peace and development are the two major themes of the contemporary world." They promoted exchange and integration between China and the world at a deeper level, continuously expanding the breadth and depth of diplomatic strategy. Comrade Deng Xiaoping noted: "With a China of one billion people persisting in socialism and a China of one billion people persisting in a policy of peace, as long as we achieve these two things, we have taken the right path and may make a relatively large contribution to humanity." Chinese Communists, with Comrade Jiang Zemin and Comrade Hu Jintao as their chief representatives, focused on the themes of peace and development, integrating the new changes and characteristics of the global situation to propose a series of diplomatic concepts and policy positions adapted to the needs of the era. This fully corroborates the idea that "Men make their own history, but they do not make it as they please; they do not make it under self-selected circumstances, but under circumstances existing already, given and transmitted from the past" [16]. In the New Era, Chinese Communists have drawn diplomatic wisdom and practical experience from the Party's century-long history of struggle. Probing the global landscape and developmental trends from the strategic perspective of the future and destiny of humanity, they have proposed and continuously enriched the concept of building a community with a shared future for humanity with a sense of major-power responsibility and mission.

Strategic Choices for Building a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity

Building a community with a shared future for humanity is a major solution proposed by China to address global challenges and promote world peace and development; it embodies Chinese wisdom and responsibility. Building a community with a shared future for humanity takes the construction of a new type of international relations as its strategic starting point. It uses the coordinated advancement of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), the Global Security Initiative (GSI), and the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI) as its institutional framework. Through the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), it deepens the transformation of the global governance paradigm toward "extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits." Ultimately, it points toward the developmental goals of a human society characterized by lasting peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness and inclusiveness, and a clean and beautiful world, providing theoretical guidance and a practical path for the construction of a new form of human civilization.

Promoting the construction of a new type of major-power relations. President Xi Jinping has emphasized: "No country in the world is superior to others, no model of national governance is universally applicable, and no international order should be dictated by a single country." Long-term global development cannot be built on a foundation where one group of countries becomes increasingly wealthy while another remains perpetually poor and backward. Therefore, all countries should jointly promote the construction of a new type of major-power relations centered on win-win cooperation, strictly abiding by modern international law norms of equality of rights, opportunities, and rules based on sovereign equality. There must be full respect for the development paths and social system arrangements independently chosen by various civilizations. Hegemonism and power politics in any form must be resolutely resisted, and the remnants of colonial thinking characterized by double standards must be thoroughly abandoned. We must maintain international fairness and justice by improving the global governance system. Faced with global risks and challenges, the international community needs to strengthen the consciousness of a shared destiny, transforming pressure into a driver for development and turning crises into opportunities for change, ultimately achieving a leap from zero-sum games to a civilizational form defined by symbiosis and win-win outcomes.

Building a new type of major-power relations should take the avoidance of strategic conflict and antagonistic games as its basic premise. It should uphold the norms of international engagement based on mutual respect, deepen the cooperation paradigm of mutual benefit, and use mutual trust as a cornerstone to fortify strategic reliance, tighten the bonds of common interest, and solidify the foundation of public opinion for friendship across generations. We must deepen strategic coordination and constructive interaction among major powers, actively advocating for a new type of major-power relations based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence that embodies overall stability and balanced development. Taking the management of China-U.S. relations as an example, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: "Major-power competition should not be the defining feature of the era; only solidarity and collaboration can overcome current difficulties." He further noted: "The stable development of China-U.S. relations concerns both peoples and the future destiny of humanity. China and the U.S. must continue to explore the right way for two major powers to get along, realizing long-term peaceful coexistence on this planet, injecting more certainty and providing positive energy to the world." "Decoupling and breaking chains" is essentially an attempt to address the contradictions of globalization with an isolationist mindset; such measures that sever the international flow of productive factors cannot constitute a fundamental solution. Only by deepening mutually beneficial synergy and cooperation on the basis of following the laws of large-scale socialized production can we break through the inherent contradictions of the capitalist world system and promote the holistic leap of human civilization. The "small yard, high fence" [17] strategy runs counter to the historical responsibility of a major power; its essence is a mindset of technological monopoly dominated by the logic of capital. Only by upholding a view of civilization that encourages "appreciating the beauty of others and sharing beauty together" (gemei qimei, meimei yugong) [18] and by building an open and inclusive global development pattern can the achievements of civilization truly be shared by all. All countries should work together to handle complex international relations and open a grand path for civilization defined by peace, development, cooperation, and win-win results.

Promoting the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative. To resolve global development puzzles, respond to international security challenges, and promote mutual learning among civilizations, China has proposed the GDI, GSI, and GCI. These advocate for a new model of globalization based on win-win cooperation in the dimension of economic development, establish international relations norms of dialogue and consultation in the field of security governance, and define a paradigm for civilizations based on diverse symbiosis at the level of civilizational exchange. These three initiatives systematically construct a network of international consensus and a framework for action, substantively advancing the transformation of the community with a shared future for humanity from conceptual construction to institutional practice, injecting strong momentum into the exploration of a new form of human civilization for the 21st century.

The proposal of the Global Development Initiative, on one hand, accelerates the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, promoting stronger, greener, and healthier global development. It fosters new drivers for global growth, builds a global development community, and advocates for prioritizing development, staying people-centered, remaining inclusive, staying innovation-driven, persisting in harmony between humanity and nature, and remaining action-oriented to jointly create and share a beautiful future of peace and prosperity. On the other hand, it promotes the shaping of a favorable environment for development, bolsters development partnerships, advances the process of economic globalization, promotes the deep integration of science and technology with the economy, maintains the stability of global industrial and supply chains, realizes world economic recovery, and promotes global balanced, coordinated, and inclusive development so that the fruits of development better benefit the people of all nations.

The Global Security Initiative aims to eliminate the root causes of international conflict and improve global security governance, encouraging the international community to work together to inject more stability and certainty into an era of turbulence and change, achieving lasting world peace and development. The GSI advocates for building a new security concept system characterized by being common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable. It emphasizes the inseparability of the principle of sovereign equality and the purposes of the UN Charter, establishes international engagement norms based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, strives to maintain the legitimate security rights and core interest concerns of all countries, coordinates the governance of traditional and non-traditional security, and explores dispute resolution paradigms under multilateral consultation mechanisms. Always upholding the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity, China actively participates in the reconstruction of the international security rule system, deepens the reform of global security governance mechanisms, and advances the practice of new multilateral security cooperation. This effectively transforms security initiatives into institutional results, providing a theoretical innovation for resolving global security dilemmas based on the governance experience of a major socialist power—namely, under the premise of adhering to an independent foreign policy of peace, creating a new security path where dialogue and consultation replace confrontation and conflict, partnerships transcend military alliances, and win-win cooperation replaces zero-sum games.

The Global Civilization Initiative elucidates our willingness to work with the international community to open a new situation of people-to-people exchanges, cultural integration, and hearts-and-minds connectivity among all nations, making the garden of world civilizations diverse, vibrant, and full of life. The GCI systematically constructs a new paradigm for civilizational engagement. Rooted in the pattern of diverse symbiosis among world civilizations, it advocates for the principle of equality and mutual learning to transcend theories of civilizational hierarchy, uses dialogue and inclusive mechanisms to dissolve theories of "clash of civilizations," and builds a dialectically unified relationship among different civilizational subjects. In the dimension of values, it emphasizes the historical generativity of the common values of humanity, adheres to a path of value dialogue that seeks common ground while reserving differences, rejects the forced export of values and institutional models, and opposes metaphysical ideological confrontation. Regarding civilizational inheritance, it applies the principle of "dialectical negation" [19] to guide the modern transformation of traditional cultures, promoting the practical transformation and innovative development of the excellent cultural heritage of all ethnic groups within the context of modernization. It advocates for the construction of multi-dimensional mechanisms for people-to-people exchange to facilitate deep mutual learning among civilizations, opening a path of "historical resultant force" [20] for the evolution of human civilizational forms.

Building the Belt and Road Initiative as a platform for practice. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) aims to assist developing countries in common development and promote the evolution of the international order toward a more just and reasonable direction. The BRI aligns with the orientation toward fairness and justice in the transformation of the global governance system, meets the internal needs for the reform of the global governance system, and conforms to the requirements of the times and the aspirations of all countries to accelerate development. From laying the foundation and raising the pillars to taking root and achieving lasting development, it has continuously won the recognition of more countries; "the joint construction of the Belt and Road has become a widely welcomed international public good and international cooperation platform."

The BRI is an initiative for economic cooperation, not a geopolitical or military alliance; it does not target or exclude anyone. It is an open and inclusive process, not an attempt to create a closed "small circle" or a "China Club." It is a sunlit avenue for China to share opportunities and seek common development with the world, not a "development trap" of some preset variety. The BRI pursues development, advocates for win-win results, and conveys hope; any interested country can join. Since the proposal of the BRI, China has adhered to the concepts of openness, green development, and integrity. With the goals of being high-standard, sustainable, and benefit-enhancing for the people, China has comprehensively promoted policy dialogue, infrastructure connectivity, trade facilitation, and financial cooperation, creating an international path for development and cooperation that is peaceful, prosperous, open, green, innovative, and civilized. In the new historical period, we must correctly understand and grasp the new situation facing the BRI, continuously solidify the foundation for development, steadily expand new fields of cooperation, comprehensively strengthen risk prevention and control, emphasize coordination, better serve the construction of the new development pattern [21], and promote the constant advancement of the BRI in the direction indicated by the community with a shared future for humanity.

Promoting global governance based on extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits. President Xi Jinping has pointed out: "All countries in the world are in the same boat with a shared destiny. To navigate the stormy waves and sail toward a bright future, we must pull together in the same direction. Any attempt to throw someone overboard is unacceptable." To jointly respond to global governance challenges and resolve the "governance deficit," we must adhere to the global governance view of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, and actively promote the democratization of global governance rules. We must lead the reform of the global governance system with the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity, transcending the zero-sum thinking of past international relations. We advocate for countries to transcend differences, share opportunities, and jointly respond to global challenges such as climate change, terrorism, and extreme poverty, seeking to achieve universal security, lasting prosperity, and sustainable development for all humanity, and promoting the international order toward a more just and reasonable direction.

Multilateral cooperation mechanisms are the only way to safeguard the common well-being of the world. The core essence of multilateralism lies in the fact that global affairs must be resolved through consensus reached via multi-party consultation; the formulation and implementation of international rules must be based on universally recognized principles; the development demands of different countries should be considered in a balanced manner; and the ultimate commitment should be to building a more inclusive system of global collaboration. We must adhere to the core values and basic principles of multilateralism and practice multilateralism through concrete actions. We must safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core, maintain the international order based on international law, and advance the reform of the global governance system through broad consultation and the building of consensus. We must attach great importance to the central role of the UN, emphasize the practice of "true multilateralism," optimize the setting of global governance agendas, and inject new momentum into the transformation of the global governance system.

Building a world of lasting peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness and inclusiveness, and cleanliness and beauty. General Secretary Xi Jinping has pointed out: "The international community should make efforts in areas such as partnerships, security patterns, economic development, civilizational exchanges, and ecological construction," and we must "persist in dialogue and consultation to promote the building of a world of lasting peace; persist in joint construction and sharing to promote the building of a world of universal security; persist in win-win cooperation to promote the building of a world of common prosperity; persist in exchange and mutual learning to promote the building of a world of openness and inclusiveness; and persist in green and low-carbon development to promote the building of a world of cleanliness and beauty." The goal of building these "five worlds" sketches a clearer blueprint for the future collective development of humanity.

All nations of the world should uphold the principles of mutual respect and egalitarian consultation, working together to contribute to the well-being and prosperity of all humanity. They should uphold a spirit of cooperation and mutual assistance, insisting on resolving disputes through dialogue mechanisms and dissolving differences through consultation and negotiation to jointly maintain regional and global peace and stability. They should commit to constructing favorable conditions that promote the collective development of all humanity, joining hands to advance the process of prosperity and development for all nations, ensuring that the positive fruits of development can broadly benefit the people of all countries, and ultimately realizing the beautiful vision of common prosperity and well-being for all. They should uphold the concepts of world plurality and civilizational diversity, committing to promoting harmonious coexistence and mutual reflection between different civilizations, so that the civilizational achievements created by humanity can collectively provide a rich spiritual impetus for the development of human society. It is imperative to firmly establish the concepts of respecting the laws of nature, conforming to natural evolution, and protecting the natural environment, committing to the construction of an ecological system that is nature-based and advocates for green development, in order to safeguard the Earth—the home upon which humanity depends for its survival—and thereby ensure the realization of global sustainable development.

In short, only when the world is doing well can China do well; and only when China is doing well can the world become even better. China is consistently committed to being an active promoter of world peace, a powerful contributor to global development, and a steadfast defender of the international order, resolutely advocating for and practicing the concept of building a community with a shared future for humanity. By grasping the overarching trend, assuming the Great Responsibility [22], and walking the Great Avenue [23], China joins hands with all nations, exerting collective effort and persisting over the long term [24], dedicating itself to advancing the process of building a community with a shared future for humanity in order to co-create a brighter and more prosperous future for mankind.
