Forge a Strong Style Barrier to Serve General Secretary Xi Jinping and the CPC Central Committee
China Social Sciences Net [1] reports (Reporter: Gao Ying). On May 14, the opening ceremony of the reading class for department-level leading cadres [2] of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) to deeply implement the spirit of the Eight-Point Regulations was held in Beijing. Gao Xiang, President and Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group, delivered the mobilization speech and provided a tutorial report. Peng Jinhui, Vice President and Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group, presided over the session. Vice President and member of the Leading Party Members’ Group Zhen Zhanmin, Hang Yuanxiang, Leader of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Group Commissioned by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision to CASS [3], and Vice President and member of the Leading Party Members’ Group Zhao Rui attended the ceremony.
The meeting pointed out that conducting in-depth study and education on implementing the spirit of the central Eight-Point Regulations throughout the whole Party is a key task of Party building [4] work this year. It is necessary to deeply understand the great significance of this education from a strategic and global perspective, study and comprehend Xi Jinping’s important discourses on strengthening the Party's conduct (作风建设) [5] in depth, and derive a profound understanding of the decisive significance of the Two Establishments. One must resolutely achieve the Two Upholds, grasp the practical requirements for strengthening the Party's conduct in the New Era, and effectively increase political, ideological, and behavioral consciousness in carrying out this education.
The meeting emphasized that since 2023, the Academy’s Leading Party Members’ Group has remained politically firm, theoretically thorough, and resolute in action. By reinforcing the foundation with the "Three Consensus," rectifying conduct through the "Three Commitments," and guarding the bottom line with the "Three Measures" [6], a new pattern for the Academy's political development [7] has begun to take shape. Since March this year, in accordance with the unified deployment of the CPC Central Committee, the Leading Party Members’ Group has meticulously organized and holistically planned to solidly carry out education with strict standards, strict measures, and strict requirements, promoting positive transformations in the Academy's institutional culture, academic style, and work conduct.
The meeting required that all units affiliated with the Academy must elevate their political stance, solidify their political responsibilities, continuously strengthen the building of political organs [8], and further forge a bulwark of political loyalty. It is essential to persistently use Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to consolidate the soul and forge the spirit (凝心铸魂), continuously deepen holistic, systematic, and scholarly research and interpretation, and effectively strengthen the Party's comprehensive leadership over the cause of philosophy and social sciences. We must continue to handle study and discussion, problem identification, and concentrated rectification (集中整治) [9] with care, deepening supervision and guidance to drive the Academy’s education toward greater depth. Excellent conduct must be used to solidly advance key tasks such as the rectification of issues identified by the Central Inspections [10] and the comprehensive deepening of reforms. New achievements in the construction of work conduct must be used to continuously consolidate the Academy’s new pattern of political development, providing a strong guarantee for running the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in accordance with the requirements of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the CPC Central Committee.
This reading class adopts a method combining self-study with collective study. Members of the Academy’s Leading Party Members’ Group delivered keynote speeches to exchange their learning experiences. Deputy Secretaries-General of the Academy and department-level leading cadres from all affiliated units participated in the study.
