Call for Papers: The 33th Annual Conference of the Chinese Association for the History of Foreign Economic Theories

The year 2025 is a critical year for implementing the guiding principles of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Party [1], and for comprehensively advancing the construction of a strong nation and the great cause of national rejuvenation through Chinese-path modernization. In order to deeply study foreign economic theories in close connection with the economic development of China and the world, and to provide theoretical inspiration for further comprehensively deepening reform, the Chinese Society for the History of Foreign Economic Theories and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics will jointly host the 33rd Annual Academic Conference of the Chinese Society for the History of Foreign Economic Theories. The conference is organized by the Center for Economic and Social Development of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the Department of Marxist Principles of the Institute of Marxism Studies of CASS, the School of Economics of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and the Xi Jinping Academy of Economic Thought at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. It will be held in late April 2025 at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

I. Forum Topics This conference will focus on, but is not limited to, the following topics:

  1. Research on Xi Jinping Economic Thought.
  2. Research on the frontiers of Western economic theory.
  3. Research on the history of foreign economic thought and economic schools of thought.
  4. Research on new developments in foreign Marxist economics.
  5. Research on the evolution of economic thought in the era of Artificial Intelligence.
  6. Research on foreign economic theories and the construction of an independent knowledge system for Chinese economics [2].
  7. Research on theoretical and practical issues regarding further comprehensively deepening reform.
  8. Western market economic development and the construction of a high-level socialist market economy system.

We are now soliciting papers on the above topics from colleagues nationwide. Papers are required to take Marxism as their guide, adhere to the correct political direction and academic orientation, follow standard writing conventions, and demonstrate academic innovation. Following a review process, invitations will be sent to the authors of selected papers. Selected papers will be compiled into a proceedings volume published by China Economic Publishing House. The conference will recommend high-quality papers to journals such as Marxian Studies, Economic Perspectives, Journal of Finance and Economics, Foreign Economics and Management, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of the History of Economic Thought, Contemporary Economic Research, Journal of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Haipai Economics [3] (quarterly).

II. Submission Requirements In addition to the main text, submissions must include an abstract of approximately 500–800 words.
