Call for Papers: 2018 Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society of Historical Materialism

To further deepen the study, research, and implementation of the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC ^[1] and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and to promote the research and innovation of historical materialism in our country, the 2018 Annual Conference of the Chinese Association of Historical Materialism is scheduled to be held in Beijing from November 3 to 4, 2018 (the conference session will last two days, with registration on November 2). The conference is co-hosted by the Chinese Association of Historical Materialism and the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), and organized by the editorial department of Ideological Education Research (Sixiang jiaoyu yanjiu) and the School of Marxism at USTB. The theme is "Historical Laws and China's Reform and Opening-up in the Contemporary Era." The annual conference will adopt a combination of targeted invitations to renowned experts and participation through paper submissions. We welcome everyone to actively write and submit papers centered on this theme.

Submitted papers should address the theme and aforementioned content with a self-selected title, while adhering to the following four points: papers must closely follow the theme, maintain correct viewpoints, and emphasize ideological, academic, and practical qualities (non-academic works such as essays ^[2] or poetry will not be accepted); papers should be the results of independent research that have not been previously published; the length should be kept within 9,000 characters, including an abstract of no more than 500 characters; for citation and footnote formatting, please refer to the journal Marxist Studies (Makesizhuyi yanjiu) and ensure all citations are carefully verified.

This conference adheres to the principle of "attending based on the merit of the paper." Please send the electronic version of your submission to lwxh2018@163.com by October 8, 2018. We will conduct a selection process and notify selected authors of their invitation to attend by October 20. High-quality papers will also be selected for recommended publication.
