Notice of the 2018 Annual Academic Conference and the 5th Membership Representative Congress of the Chinese Atheism Society
The report of the 19th National Congress of the Party pointed out that socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a New Era. In his speech at the National Religious Work Conference in 2016, General Secretary Xi Jinping provided a profound exposition on adhering to and promoting Marxist atheism, which has become an important component of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
In order to deeply study and implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress, and to carry out General Secretary Xi Jinping's instructions and requirements regarding the adherence to and promotion of Marxist atheism, the Chinese Atheism Society (中国无神论学会), following a study by the Chairperson’s Office, has decided to hold its 2018 Annual Academic Conference in Beijing from December 1st to 2nd. This annual conference will be jointly organized by the Chinese Atheism Society and the Science and Atheism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).
Simultaneously, in accordance with the Society's Charter, the Chinese Atheism Society intends to convene its Fifth General Assembly of Member Representatives during the 2018 Annual Academic Conference to conduct elections for a new term [1].
The annual conference adopts a combination of inviting renowned experts and selecting participants based on submitted papers. We welcome directors of the Society as well as experts and scholars who care for, support, and engage in the research, promotion, and education of atheism to actively write papers centered on the theme. The relevant matters of the meeting are hereby notified as follows:
- Meeting Time: December 1st–2nd, 2018.
- Meeting Location: To be determined.
- Conference Theme: The Mission and Tasks of Atheism in the New Era.
- Meeting Content: (1) Annual conference academic report sessions; (2) Election work for the new term of the Board of Directors of the Chinese Atheism Society.
- Deadlines: (1) Please complete the attached receipt and send it via email to w8078@sina.com before October 25th. (2) Please submit your paper or speech outline (please send an electronic version to the aforementioned email address) before November 20th.
- Other Matters: (1) Accommodation and meal expenses during the meeting will be provided by the organizers (representatives from the Beijing area will generally not be provided with overnight accommodation); round-trip travel expenses should, in principle, be borne by the participants.
