Call for Papers: "Chinese Marxist Economics: 70 Years in Retrospect and Prospect" — The 29th Annual Meeting of the Chinese Association of Political Economy and the 22nd Seminar of the Chinese Haipai Economy Forum
The year 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. To review and summarize the experiences of the dissemination, research, and development of Marxist political economy in China, to promote the interpretation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialist Economy with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, to further advance theoretical innovation in political economy with Chinese characteristics, and to encourage the prosperity of various schools of Marxist economics both in China and abroad, the China Society of Political Economy (formerly the China Research Association for the System of Socialist Economic Laws, renamed with the approval of the Ministry of Civil Affairs) and the Center for Hai-School Economics [1] at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics intend to hold the 29th Annual Meeting from June 1st to 2nd, 2019 (weekend) at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). The conference is co-organized by the Research Center for Economic and Social Development of CASS and the Department of Principles of the Institute of Marxism Studies of CASS.
With the theme "Chinese Marxist Economics: 70 Years of Retrospect and Prospect," this conference will focus on discussing the following topics:
- The process and experience of the Sinicization of Marxist economics.
- The innovative development of Marxist economics in China over the past 70 years.
- Research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialist Economy with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
- Academic development and policy research on socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics.
- A political economy interpretation of China's move toward the center of the world stage.
- Developments and changes in the methods, categories, discourse, principles, and systems of Marxist political economy.
- Basic theoretical investigations into the political economy of contemporary monopoly capitalism.
- Scientific critique, reference, and transcendence of Western economics by Chinese and foreign political economy.
- Investigation into schools of Marxist economics in China and abroad.
- Current status and trends in the development of world political economy.
We sincerely invite teaching and research personnel from national research institutions, institutions of higher education, and other units, as well as members of this Society, to actively submit papers. Submission requirements:
(1) The theme must be distinct, the argumentation clear, and the content must reflect academic rigor and innovation. (2) Citations must be standardized, quotations accurate, and sources noted in footnotes. (3) The main text of the paper should be preceded by an abstract (approximately 500 words), keywords (3-5), a brief author biography, and detailed contact information. (4) The deadline for submissions is May 5, 2019. Formal invitation letters for the conference will be issued to selected authors by May 10.
Selected papers will be considered for the Society's Outstanding Paper Award of the year, and the best submissions will be compiled into a collection published by the Economic Science Press. Outstanding papers may be recommended to Marxism Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu), Political Economy Overseas (Zhengzhi Jingjixue Yanjiu; sponsored by the Society), and Journal of Hai-School Economics (Haipai Jingjixue; quarterly).
