Call for Papers: The 35th Annual Academic Meeting of the China Society of Political Economy

In order to indepthly study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee [1], and to study and research the recently published and distributed Volume I of the Selected Economic Works of Xi Jinping, to promote the systematization and academic theorization of Xi Jinping’s economic thought, and to advance the theoretical innovation and practical application of socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics, the China Association of Political Economy (CAPE) plans to convene its 35th Annual Academic Conference from October 25 to 26, 2025, at the Tsinghua Sanya International Mathematics Forum (Sanya, Hainan Province). The conference is co-hosted by the China Association of Political Economy and Tsinghua University, and organized by the Center for Marxism and Economic-Social Development Research at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the School of Marxism at Tsinghua University, the Institute of Economics at the School of Social Sciences at Tsinghua University, and the Academy of Shanghai School of Economics at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Co-organizing partners include the editorial boards of journals such as Research on Political Economy, Political Economy Quarterly, World Review of Political Economy, Contemporary Economic Research, and Shanghai School of Economics.

Contributions are now cordially invited from teaching and research personnel at higher education institutions, scientific research institutes, and other relevant units across the nation.

I. Conference Theme The theme of this conference is: Volume I of the Selected Economic Works of Xi Jinping and Theoretical Innovation in Socialist Economics with Chinese Characteristics.

II. Primary Research and Discussion Topics Centering on the conference theme, “Volume I of the Selected Economic Works of Xi Jinping and Theoretical Innovation in Socialist Economics with Chinese Characteristics,” this conference will focus on research and discussion in the following areas:

(1) Research on the systematization and academic theorization of Xi Jinping’s economic thought. (2) Research on the methodology of Xi Jinping’s economic thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era. (3) Research on Chinese-path modernization and the autonomous knowledge system of socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics [2]. (4) Research on upholding and improving the basic socialist economic system. (5) Research on new quality productive forces and high-quality development. (6) Research on the theory and practice of a high-standard socialist market economy system. (7) Research on deepening the reform of the ecological civilization system and green, low-carbon development. (8) Research on consolidating and improving the basic rural management system and rural revitalization. (9) Research on development trends in contemporary capitalist economies and China’s high-level socialist opening up to the outside world. (10) Mathematical political economy analysis of socialist economic development with Chinese characteristics.

III. Submission Requirements (1) Adhere to the correct political direction and academic orientation; ensure the theme is prominent and the argumentation is rigorous, reflecting academic depth and innovation. (2) Citations must be standardized and quotations accurate. Notes should use the footnote format, with numbering restarting on each page. (3) Papers should be submitted in WORD document format, using size 5 Songti font (Simplified Chinese) for the main text, and small size 4 Heiti font (Bold) for subheadings, with 1.5 line spacing. Papers should ideally be between 8,000 and 12,000 characters. A title page should be attached before the main text, including the paper title, an abstract (approximately 350 characters), keywords (3-5), a brief author profile, and detailed contact information (mailing address, mobile phone number, and email). For specific formatting, please refer to the academic papers published in Research on Political Economy. (4) The submission deadline is September 30, 2025. IV. Other Instructions (1) This conference will establish sub-forums for postdoctoral researchers and graduate students. Postdoctoral researchers and current Master’s/Doctoral students who are committed to the study of Marxist political economy are encouraged to submit papers actively. (2) The organizing committee will issue formal invitation letters to the authors of selected papers before October 20, 2025. (3) Selected papers will be prioritized for inclusion in the conference proceedings to be published by Economic Science Press. Excellent papers will be recommended for publication in journals such as Research on Political Economy, Political Economy Quarterly, Contemporary Economic Research, Shanghai School of Economics, and World Review of Political Economy.
