In order to more effectively advance the construction of the research office and the academic discipline, the Mao Zedong Thought Research Office held its mid-year progress meeting for research office and disciplinary construction on the morning of June 22. All members of the Mao Zedong Thought Research Office attended the meeting. On the basis of individual reports, the meeting profoundly summarized the work of the research office and the status of disciplinary construction in the first half of 2022, while planning and arranging various work tasks for the second half of the year. Researcher Zhu Jidou, Director of the Mao Zedong Thought Research Office, presided over the meeting, and Researcher He Xinyuan, Deputy Director of the Department of the Sinicization of Marxism [1], attended by invitation.

Researchers from the Mao Zedong Thought Research Office, including Zhu Jidou, Wang Yonghao, Yu Xiaolei, and Yang Junfeng, each reported on the completion of various tasks undertaken in 2022. In particular, they provided detailed introductions to the writing progress of the "History of the Development of Mao Zedong Thought" volume of the History of the Development of Marxism, a key project of the CASS Innovation Program [2] currently underway. They also discussed their respective work plans for the second half of the year and the expected quantity of academic outputs. Judging from the summary, members of the research office published multiple papers in core journals such as People’s Tribune and the Journal of China Jinggangshan Leadership Academy [3] during the first half of the year. As chief experts, they successfully applied for and established a Major Project of the National Social Science Fund of China for the research and interpretation of the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee. Furthermore, major projects, key projects, and late-stage grants of the National Social Science Fund, as well as Major Projects of the CASS Project for Marxist Theory Research and Construction [4], for which they serve as lead investigators, are progressing smoothly. Base construction [5] has been further deepened, and key scientific research tasks are being completed successfully.

Following the summary of the research office's work in the first half of the year and the planning for various tasks in the second half, all comrades of the Mao Zedong Thought Research Office reached a consensus: it is imperative to complete the writing tasks for the "History of the Development of Mao Zedong Thought" volume of the History of the Development of Marxism with high quality and in the required quantity, in accordance with the planned arrangements of the Institute of Marxism Studies. In the second half of the year, the "Rereading the Selected Works of Mao Zedong" [6] reading group activities will be continued, research on various subjects will be conducted in depth, and researchers will take the initiative to increase their workload in academic and theoretical research to strive for more scientific research results. These efforts aim to further advance disciplinary construction by continuously solidifying the foundation of academic research.

At the same time, the meeting made further arrangements for the preparatory work of the 9th CASS Mao Zedong Thought Forum, to be held in early September, as well as for disciplinary field research.

While listening to the presentations, Researcher He Xinyuan offered comments on the work of the Mao Zedong Thought Research Office and the research status of each individual, providing excellent guiding suggestions. In the final concluding speech, He Xinyuan provided further guidance on the organization and preparation of the 9th CASS Mao Zedong Thought Forum in the second half of the year, the continued development of the "Rereading the Selected Works of Mao Zedong" reading group, and the preparatory work for the General Academic History of the Sinicization of Marxism. He expressed hope that the Mao Zedong Thought Research Office would strive to play an exemplary role in publishing papers in core journals and completing key tasks, striving to welcome the successful opening of the 20th National Congress of the CPC [7] with more and more solid academic results.
