Application Notice for the 2022 National Summer Camp for Outstanding College Students of the School of Marxism, University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
The School of Marxism at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCASS) was established in October 2017. As a secondary college specializing in teaching and scientific research in disciplines related to Marxist theory, the School is responsible for the instruction of Ideological and Political Theory courses [1] for all undergraduate and graduate students across the university. It also oversees teaching, research, talent cultivation, admissions, employment, and student management for two undergraduate majors: Marxist Theory and Ideological and Political Education. In September 2020, through the deep integration of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the University’s School of Marxism, a "Science-Education Integration" college was established. Xin Xiangyang, the Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, serves as the Dean. The School possesses a formidable faculty, including five Honorary Members of the CASS [2] and four Members of the CASS; 12 Distinguished Professors, 15 Tenured Professors, over 40 Distinguished Post Teachers, 45 undergraduate academic mentors, and 113 doctoral supervisors for the "Marxist Backbone Program" [3]. Relying on the resources of the School, several institutions have been established, including the Ministry of Education’s Innovation and Development Center for Ideological and Political Work in Universities, the Beijing Municipal Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, the Higher Research Institute of 21st Century Contemporary Chinese Marxism, and the Higher Research Institute of Ideological and Political Education.
In terms of science-education integration and talent cultivation, the School of Marxism adheres to high standards and high levels, creates high-end platforms, and sets ambitious goals. Its mission as a steadfast stronghold of Marxist theory and a center for cultivating high-level talent has been consistent since its inception. A foundation of top-tier academic research, extensive experience in cultivating high-level talent in the philosophy and social sciences, and the goal of building a world-class socialist liberal arts university constitute the solid basis for the School’s development and its mission to "cultivate virtue and nurture people" [4] (li de shu ren).
