Notice of the 2022 National Forum on Basic Principles of Marxism

The discipline of Basic Tenets of Marxism is a designated Priority Discipline of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), led by Professor Cheng Enfu and Researcher Yu Bin. The national seminar series on the "Basic Tenets of Marxism" aims to facilitate mutual exchange and the presentation of research results among experts and scholars engaged in the study and teaching of the basic tenets of Marxism, with the goal of promoting the classical inheritance and innovative development of these tenets.

The 2022 National Seminar on the Basic Tenets of Marxism is jointly organized by the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, the editorial department of World Socialism Studies, the Collaborative Innovation Center for the Study of the Theory of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in Beijing Universities (China University of Political Science and Law), the School of Marxism at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), and the NUAA Base of the Jiangsu Center for the Study of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics [1]. The seminar is scheduled to be held from November 5–6, 2022. We sincerely invite colleagues from the national academic community to participate and exchange ideas.

The theme of this year's seminar is: "The Basic Tenets of Marxism and Studying the Spirit of the 20th National Congress." Specific topics include: (1) The thoughts on economic construction in the New Era in the report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC; (2) The thoughts on political construction in the New Era in the report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC; (3) The thoughts on cultural construction in the New Era in the report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC; (4) The thoughts on social construction in the New Era in the report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC; (5) The thoughts on ecological civilization [2] construction in the New Era in the report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC; (6) Contemporary applications of the basic tenets of Marxism; (7) Discipline building of the basic tenets of Marxism; (8) The basic tenets of Marxism and the construction of the "Great Course on Ideological and Political Theory" [3]; and so forth.

The seminar adopts the principle of "participation based on submission." Experts and scholars intending to attend are requested to write papers centered on the seminar themes. The paper format should refer to the submission requirements of the journal Studies on Marxism. After the meeting, we will select outstanding papers to be recommended to journals such as Studies on Marxism, Journal of Political Economy, Contemporary Economic Research, and World Socialism Studies. The deadline for paper submissions is October 25, 2022.
