From September 16 to 20, Xin Xiangyang, Party Secretary of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Conducted a Research Trip to Kashgar, Xinjiang
According to the Marxism Research Network, from September 16 to 20, a delegation of five experts led by Xin Xiangyang, Party Committee Secretary and Vice President of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), traveled to the Kashgar Prefecture of Xinjiang to conduct field research. The Propaganda Department of the CPC Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Regional Committee attached great importance to this research mission. Ding Shouqing, Party Committee Secretary and President of the Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences, and Li Zheng, Chairman of the Kashgar Prefecture Federation of Social Sciences, accompanied the delegation throughout the entire trip.
On the afternoon of September 16, the research group visited the Organization Department of the Kashgar Municipal Party Committee. They held a symposium on the theme of "Local Party Building and the Dissemination of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in Xinjiang" with responsible comrades from Kashgar’s departments of party-mass relations, development and reform, agricultural economics, social security, education, health, civil affairs, and the Women’s Federation. At the meeting, the relevant responsible comrades from Kashgar City provided a detailed introduction to the state of local Party building. they gave a comprehensive account of the public’s awareness of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, as well as the effects and achievements of promoting the national standard spoken and written language [1] and strengthening publicity and education regarding the "Four Histories" of Xinjiang [2].
Following the symposium, accompanied by leaders of the Kashgar Municipal Party Committee, the research group inspected the "Centenary Kashgar Pavilion" and the "Kashgar New Era Civilization Center." They gained a detailed understanding of how the Civilization Center propagates and popularizes Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. They also visited and researched the "Kashgar Nang [3] Industrial Park."
On September 17, the research group drove to Bandir Township in Taxkorgan County to conduct a symposium and field research, engaging in deep exchanges with members of the Standing Committee of the Taxkorgan County Party Committee and grassroots Party building personnel in Bandir Township. After the meeting, they visited the Bandir Township High-Mountain Snow Chrysanthemum Cultivation Base and inspected the township’s New Era Civilization Center.
The group then proceeded to the "Lajini Bayika Patriotic and Army-Supporting Education Base" [4] in Taxkorgan County to learn about the advanced deeds of the "Role Model of the Times," Lajini Bayika. For over 70 years, three generations of Lajini Bayika’s family have protected the national border. Content with obscurity and harboring no regrets, they traveled year-round through snow-capped mountains and icy rivers where the average altitude exceeds 4,000 meters and natural conditions are extremely harsh, writing a moving story of patriotism and border defense in a "forbidden zone for life." Lajini Bayika ultimately sacrificed his precious life to save another from an icy lake. During the visit, the research group was deeply educated, inspired, and spurred to action. Secretary Xin Xiangyang pointed out that the "Lajini Spirit" must be properly summarized. He suggested the establishment of a Border Defense and Maintenance Museum, using the moving deeds of Lajini Bayika’s family as core material, to be run as a high-level museum that fosters more successors for the revitalization and stabilization of Xinjiang's borders.
On September 19, the task force traveled to Village No. 3 of Baren Township in Shule County. They heard reports from village comrades on the localized implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era among the masses, the promotion of the national standard language, and the implementation of education regarding traditional culture and the "Four Histories" of Xinjiang. They also researched the kindergarten in Village No. 3, watching children perform Henan Opera [5], extracurricular activities, kuaiban (rhythmic storytelling) [6], and achievements in Sinology and calligraphy. Furthermore, they entered village households to investigate the effectiveness of poverty alleviation, discussing the beautiful new life with minority family members and experiencing the positive effects of the "Fanghuiju" [7] initiative, rural revitalization, and "Education in Gratitude."
During the research tour, Secretary Xin Xiangyang requested that the researchers must effectively fulfill their roles as a think tank and advisory group. He emphasized the need to carefully digest the research content, summarize the findings, and write research reports. These should be formed into internal policy briefs to deeply excavate excellent models for the popularization and dissemination of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, contributing wisdom to the communication of the Party’s theories and to the development, stability, and governance of Xinjiang.
