The Holistic Approach to National Security
National security is the vital cornerstone for stabilizing the state and securing the country; safeguarding national security is where the fundamental interests of all ethnic groups within the nation reside. Improving national security strategy and policy, resolutely safeguarding national political security, and coordinating the advancement of various security tasks constitute an extremely important dimension of the work of the Party and the State. Consequently, the Holistic Approach to National Security was proposed in response to shifts in the international situation and the profound evolution of international relations. It encompasses the strategic thinking, planning, general security policies, and institutions designed to guarantee and defend overall national security. General Secretary Xi Jinping introduced the "Holistic Approach to National Security" in 2014, emphasizing the Party's centralized and unified leadership over national security work. It insists on the organic unity of people’s security, political security, and the supremacy of national interests, while integrating traditional and non-traditional security, internal and external security, and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
