The Fact-finding Research Group of the Academy of Marxism at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Conducts Field Research in Inner Mongolia
In April 2023, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the working conference for the thematic education [1] campaign on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, putting forward clear requirements for further improving investigation and research [2]. In order to effectively implement the requirements of this thematic education and deeply strengthen investigation and research, the National Conditions Research Group of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) traveled to several leagues and cities [3] in Inner Mongolia. The group organized its research around themes such as "Ecological Civilization Construction under Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era" and "Strengthening the Political and Organizational Functions of Party Organizations."
From July 22 to 26, Xin Xiangyang, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, led a delegation to Hinggan League and Xilingol League to conduct national conditions research. They were accompanied by Zhu Xiaojun, a member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Vice Chairperson of the Autonomous Region's Federation of Social Sciences, and Liu Zhong, Deputy Director of the Hinggan League Working Committee of the Regional People's Congress. The research group visited Ulanhot Steel Co., Ltd. of the Jingye Group to learn about industrial upgrading projects for green energy conservation and environmental protection, including blast furnace energy saving, gas recovery for power generation, and sewage treatment. They traveled to the Ulan Maud Grasslands in Horqin Right Front Banner [4] to conduct field research on infrastructure construction and grassland ecological protection. Additionally, they visited places such as Duolun County and Zhenglan Banner to understand the comprehensive management of grassland sandy land and the progress of projects for returning farmland to forests and grasslands [5]. The group also held multiple symposiums and exchanges with relevant local departments.

Xin Xiangyang, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, and his delegation inspected green energy-saving and environmental protection industrial upgrading projects at Ulanhot Steel Co., Ltd.
From July 12 to 16, Lin Jianhua, Vice President of the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, led a delegation to Hinggan League and Tongliao City to conduct national conditions research. They were accompanied by Zhu Meng, member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences, and Jiao Gangwei, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department. The research group visited the Erlongtun Organic Agriculture Co., Ltd. in Horqin Right Middle Banner, Haridaobu Gacha [6] in Bayanhushu Town, and the Horqin Right Middle Banner Museum to understand the Party building [7] work of "two-new" organizations [8], Party building-led rural revitalization, and primary-level propaganda, ideological, and cultural work. They also went to the Red Chili Industry R&D Center in Kailu County, the Xiaochengzi Standardized Demonstration Orchard and Maize Demonstration Base, the Party-Mass Service Center of the Kailu Biomedical Development Zone, the Municipal Tianyi Nursing Home, Shiji Tiancheng Company, and various museums. These visits aimed to understand how high-quality Party building leads rural revitalization and how Party leadership governs the high-quality development of social organizations. The group held symposiums and conducted in-depth exchanges with relevant departments on strengthening the political and organizational functions of Party organizations.

From July 10 to 14, a research group from the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies visited Bayannur City and Ordos City to conduct national conditions research. They successively inspected the Ershili Liuze Ulan Buh Desert management area in Dengkou, the Yellow River Sanshenggong Water Conservancy Hub, the Modern Industry Demonstration Zone on the south bank of Ulansuhai Lake, the Ulansuhai Nature Reserve, the Ordos Carbon Neutrality Research Institute, the Ordos Zero-Carbon Industrial Park, and the Kubuqi Desert. They gained insights into local experiences regarding industrial structure transformation, photovoltaic-based desertification control, and desert water ecology management.
Through this investigation and research, the research group deepened its understanding of the Party's innovative theories, enhanced its knowledge of Inner Mongolia’s strategic positioning in building a solid ecological security barrier in northern China, and expanded its research horizons.
